Privacy Policy
Effective date: February 9, 2026 · Last updated: February 9, 2026
Claybook does not collect, transmit, or share any of your personal data. All your pottery data — items, photos, notes, glaze history, and settings — is stored entirely on your device and never leaves it.
1. Introduction
Claybook ("the App") is a pottery tracking application for iOS developed by Alex Luis ("we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App does and does not collect, how your data is stored, and your rights regarding that data.
By downloading or using Claybook, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Information we collect
We do not collect any personal information. Claybook is a fully offline, local-first application. There is no account creation, no sign-in, and no server communication.

- Photos taken with your camera or imported from your photo library
- Glaze names, colors, and application order
- Clay types and measurements

- App preferences and settings
All of this data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party.

3. Data storage & security
All data created in Claybook is stored on your device using Apple's local storage frameworks. Specifically:
- Pottery data (items, stages, glazes, notes) is stored in an on-device database
- Photos are stored as files in the App's sandboxed documents directory
- Settings are stored in local user defaults
Your data is protected by your device's built-in security features, including device passcode, Face ID/Touch ID, and iOS data encryption at rest.
We do not have access to your data. There are no servers, databases, or cloud storage systems operated by us that receive any information from the App.
4. Photos & camera access
Claybook requests access to your device camera and photo library to allow you to photograph and import images of your pottery. This permission is:
- Optional — the App works without granting camera or photo access
- Local only — photos captured or imported are stored within the App's local data on your device
- Never transmitted — photos are not uploaded, shared, or sent to any server
You can revoke camera or photo library access at any time in iOS Settings → Claybook.
5. Third-party services
Claybook does not integrate with, send data to, or receive data from any third-party services. Specifically, the App contains:
- No analytics or tracking SDKs (e.g., Google Analytics, Firebase, Mixpanel)
- No advertising frameworks or ad networks
- No social media SDKs or login integrations
- No crash reporting services (e.g., Crashlytics, Sentry)
- No cloud storage or sync services
- No content delivery networks for user data
6. Data sharing & disclosure
We do not share, sell, rent, or disclose your data to any third parties because we do not have access to your data. Since all data resides solely on your device, only you control it.
The only way your pottery data leaves the App is if you explicitly use the iOS share sheet to share a photo or share card — this is initiated and controlled entirely by you.
7. Data retention & deletion
Your data exists on your device for as long as you choose to keep it. You have full control:
- Archive — hide items from your library without deleting
- Delete individual items — permanently removes the item and its associated stage logs and photos
- Delete the App — uninstalling Claybook permanently removes all App data from your device, including all pottery items, photos, and settings
Since we do not store any data on our servers, there is no data for us to retain or delete on our end.
8. Data backup & transfer
Your Claybook data is included in your standard iPhone backup process:
- iCloud Backup — if enabled on your device, Claybook data is included in your encrypted iCloud backup, managed by Apple under their privacy policy
- Computer backup — if you back up your iPhone to a Mac or PC, Claybook data is included
- Device transfer — when setting up a new iPhone from a backup, your Claybook data transfers automatically
These backups are handled by Apple's operating system and are not initiated or controlled by us.
9. Children's privacy
Claybook does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). Since the App collects no data and requires no account, it complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar international regulations.
The App contains no inappropriate content and is suitable for all ages.
10. International users
Claybook is available worldwide. Since we do not collect or process any personal data, the App is compliant with:
- GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) — European Union
- CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act) — California, USA
- PIPEDA (Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act) — Canada

Since no personal data is collected or processed, there is no data to access, port, correct, or erase. However, you always have full control over your data directly within the App.
11. Your rights

- Access — all your data is visible to you directly in the App at all times
- Correction — you can edit any item, stage, note, or detail at any time
- Deletion — you can delete individual items or uninstall the App to remove all data
- Portability — your data is included in standard iOS backups

12. App Store privacy label
In accordance with Apple's App Store requirements, Claybook's privacy nutrition label declares:

- Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
